The metal industry remains one of the pillars of Polish manufacturing. Aluminium output rises while selected segments decline
A report published by Statistics Poland at the end of July 2026, entitled Production of Industrial Products in 2025, shows that metals and fabricated metal products together accounted for 11.4% of the value of industrial products sold. At the same time, the results for individual product groups indicate considerable variation across the industry.
Metals and metal products account for a significant share of sold production
The value of industrial products sold in Poland reached PLN 1,705.7 billion in 2025. The “Metals” division accounted for 5.9% of this value, while fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment, represented a further 5.5%.
Both divisions were therefore among the most important areas of domestic industry, alongside the production of food products, motor vehicles, rubber and plastic products, and electrical equipment.
The Silesian Voivodeship was particularly important to the metal sector. Companies based in the region recorded the largest share in the value of sold production both in the “Metals” division and in the category of fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment.
Aluminium production increased significantly
One of the largest increases recorded in the entire survey concerned the production of unwrought aluminium. In 2025, output rose by 70.8% compared with the previous year.
Growth was also recorded in some segments related to the production of machinery and equipment used in industry. Production of concrete mixers, excluding concrete mixer lorries, increased by 23.9%, while production of field seeders rose by 32.8%.
Decline in the production of seamless tubes and metal-cutting lathes
Not all segments of the metal industry ended the year with growth. Production of seamless tubes fell by 39.2%. This was one of the largest declines among the 727 products and product groups covered by the survey.
Production of metal-cutting lathes also decreased, by 30.2%. Weaker results were additionally recorded in the production of lifting equipment, which fell by 29.4%, combine harvesters by 28.7%, and agricultural tractors by 26.3%.
A varied situation across the industrial sector
Statistics Poland data show that in 2025 production increased for 346 of the 727 products and product groups analysed. Declines were recorded in 379 groups.
The results for the metal industry confirm that the position of individual manufacturers depended strongly on their area of specialisation. The dynamic rise in aluminium production contrasted with declines in tubes, machine tools and agricultural machinery.
